A very old section of tree branch, probably from an ash. This has fallen from the tree naturally and is very thickly covered in lichen, giving it amazing character and interest. It also includes an example of the mushroom Daldinia concentrica. This dry, black mushroom is known by several common names, including King Alfred's cake, cramp balls, and coal fungus.

It is unusual to find a branch section of this size, so encrusted with moss and lichen.

The branch, having weathered naturally for many years, is only suitable for indoor decorative purposes if the surface covering is to remain intact. It would however make a wonderful stand for a special craft piece. Equally you could simply prop it in a corner and enjoy its intricate beauty.

The approximate length is 106cm by a 12cm diameter.
