Another example of a concept from The Butterfly House range. This piece is designed to evoke the richness and textures of a living butterfly collection in a hanging form. Suspend your decoration from a bracket or a celling hook.

This particular decoration uses a lovely curved piece of bark as its base. It is hung, using faux leather in a soft grey, and angled so you see the moss and lichen covered underside. The curved top (the original inside of the bark) is home to two living air plants which nestle in moss from Dormouse Wood.

The approximate size of the decoration is 19cm long by 14cm deep. The height can be adjusted by tying the cord at your preferred length, with a maximum drop of around 45cm.

These amazing plants draw nourishment from the moisture in air and just need a light misting of water to thrive. To replicate the lush environment of a butterfly house the plants are surrounded by moss, lichen and several tiny decorative sticks and more bark pieces.

The finishing touch, which also adds a pop of colour to the subtle green / grey colour palette is the addition of two butterflies. On the front, one suns itself on an orange slice, whilst on the back, you will find a brilliant red butterfly feeding on an apple slice.

All ready to hang, it will come with instructions on caring for your air plants.

CARING FOR AIR PLANTS: locate any piece including air plants out of direct sunlight and not too near any strong heat source (e.g a radiator or fire). Use a plant mister to spray your air plants at intervals. Rain water is better than tap water, especially if you live in a hard water area but use tap water if nothing else is available. Occasionally give your air plants more of a soaking and feed them lightly with a spray feed, such as that used for bonsai or orchids. Try not to get your butterflies too wet as they are made from paper, although they have been sprayed with a clear sealant to give them some protection.
